Biofeedback Training

What is biofeedback therapy?

The PelviPower™ Bio-Feedback-Trainer is the first ergonomically adaptive training device capable of training and measuring the pelvic floor muscles in isolation. A sensor integrated within the seat registers the activity of the pelvic floor muscles and adapts the training accordingly ‘fully clothed’. The pressure changes caused by the contraction of the pelvic floor are displayed on a monitor located in front of the patient, giving you the opportunity to observe and optimise the pelvic floor muscles using real-time biofeedback.

TRAINING

The training takes place in sequences that are specified on the monitor. The patients follow these instructions by contracting, maintaining contraction and relaxing with a red line. The closer the line gets to the target, the better the course of the training is. This form of training is highly stimulating in character and playfully awakens the patient’s ambition.

WHY USE BIOFEEDBACK?

  • Bladder weakness
  • Back problems
  • Before giving birth
  • For recovery after pregnancy
  • During menopause
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • After operations in the pelvic area.

What is internal biofeedback?

We also are delighted to use EMG biofeedback to assess muscle strength and where appropriate neuromuscular stimulation to actively exercise the muscles. This kind of feedback uses an internal probe and is an amazing tool to help treat

  • Pelvic pain
  • Stress incontinence
  • Urge incontinence
  • Faecal incontinence
  • Pelvic pain
  • Endometriosis
  • Tight pelvic floor muscles
  • Weak pelvic floor muscles

TRAINING

The training take place on a hand held monitor. You can have fun with playing the pre-set games to help strengthen and release your pelvic floor.

Both types of biofeedback can be used within our physiotherapy assessments and treatments sessions. Book a pregnancy assessment, Mummy MOT or pelvic floor assessment today here.
