Biofeedback Training
We are delighted to offer two forms of biofeedback at our specialist women’s health clinic in Sale, Cheshire, to help our lovely ladies strengthen or relax their pelvic floors in a fun, motivating, effective way.
The PelviPower™ Bio-Feedback-Trainer is a specialist chair capable of training and measuring the pelvic floor muscles. A sensor integrated within the seat registers the activity of the pelvic floor muscles and adapts the training accordingly ‘fully clothed’. The pressure changes caused by the contraction of the pelvic floor are displayed on a monitor located in front of the client, giving you the opportunity to observe and optimise the pelvic floor muscles using real-time biofeedback.
The Neurotrac Myoplus pro training is a handheld EMG biofeedback machine to assess muscle strength and where appropriate neuromuscular stimulation to actively exercise the muscles. This kind of feedback uses an internal probe and can help those that have an overactive pelvic floor as well as those that need strengthening. This can be used as part of your physiotherapy rehab. A pelvic floor physio assessment is required first to deem suitability.
What is Biofeedback Therapy & Training?
The training takes place in sequences that are specified on the monitors. The patients follow these instructions by contracting, maintaining contraction and relaxing with a red line. The closer the line gets to the target, the better the course of the training is. This form of training is highly stimulating in character and playfully awakens the patient’s ambition. The Internal biofeedback also has a range of games to help relax or strengthen the pelvic floor in a fun way that keeps you motivated and can monitor progress.

FAQs
Why Should You Use Biofeedback Training?
Biofeedback training is for you if you are lacking the motivation to do your independent exercises, you are unsure if you are doing them correctly or if pelvic floor exercises at home are simply not working for you.
What is Internal Biofeedback?
Internal feedback uses a small probe which goes inside the vagina and can accurately assess the tone. You will then be able to play games such as the rose relaxation game to open the flower and relax your pelvic floor, or you can be a little bunny collecting carrots to help strengthen the pelvic floor in a fun, effective way.
Is Biofeedback Training Safe?
Yes, Biofeedback is so safe that it can even be used in pregnancy. You are doing all the work, the machines just monitor your progress. Please speak to your physiotherapist if you are pregnant and have any concerns.
How Many Sessions of Biofeedback Training Will I Need?
Everyone is different, but the majority of ladies we see in the clinic benefit from between 2-6 sessions of biofeedback, depending on the type of problems we are treating. We can let you know our recommendations for you at your initial assessment.
