About Pregnancy Physio

Throughout pregnancy, it is very common to struggle with musculoskeletal issues such as back pain, pelvic pain, or even dysfunctions such as incontinence. Pregnancy physio is a specialised physiotherapy assessment that can help to identify how to alleviate or reduce any of the musculoskeletal symptoms experienced during pregnancy.

Our specialist women’s health physiotherapists can teach you useful and effective exercises to help reduce any pain or discomfort you experience, provide manual therapy for pain relief, whilst also providing you with useful advice on how to prevent issues from getting worse. At Bump to Beyond we understand that every pregnancy is different, so we make an effort to provide bespoke advice for each pregnancy physiotherapy session.

How Does Pregnancy Physiotherapy Help?

By utilising the knowledge of our specialist women’s health physiotherapists, and applying key pregnancy physio techniques, we are able to support women with various musculoskeletal issues experienced at all stages of pregnancy. We understand that one woman’’s pregnancy can different hugely to another woman’s pregnancy, therefore we offer pregnancy physio for a number of issues.
Pelvic Girdle Pain
Pregnancy physiotherapy can help with issues such as pelvic girdle pain. Our specialist physiotherapists will assess your current lifestyle to determine any risk factors that are contributing to the pain, before providing advice, specific exercises, advice on support belts, support belts and muscle strengthening activities to help relieve some of your pain.
Incontinence is a very common issue for women, and can result in leakage of urine after coughing, sneezing or participating in sport, and can often leave them feeling embarrassed. At Bump to Beyond, our pregnancy physio service can provide you with peace of mind as to what is normal and what requires additional treatment through our personalised pelvic floor programme.
Back pain is also a common symptom at all stages of pregnancy, however that does not mean that it should be ignored and tolerated. At Bump to Beyond we provide a full assessment of your pain, give advice, teach you exercises and give you hands on treatment to help alleviate and prevent further pain.
What To Expect

What to Expect From Your Pregnancy Physio Appointment

When attending your first pregnancy physiotherapy appointment at Bump to Beyond it is helpful to consider your clothing choices. Inevitably, with a pregnancy physio appointment, assessments and treatments will be given to different areas of your body, therefore wearing clothes that can be easily removed or manoeuvred to reveal particular areas of your body would be useful. However, if you are not comfortable with revealing certain areas of your body, communicate this to our specialist physiotherapists and they will try to find an alternative treatment method if possible.

If you are attending the clinic for pelvic floor dysfunction, it may be appropriate to conduct a pelvic floor examination, which is why wearing clothes that can be easily removed is a good idea. Again, if you do not feel comfortable with having this area of your body assessed then our physiotherapists will do what they can to accommodate your needs.

As part of the pregnancy physio appointment, you will also be asked to take part in a series of movements and exercises so that our physiotherapists can assess the level of your dysfunction and pain. Whilst this is an important part of your assessment, be sure to let us know if anything is too strenuous or painful.

Must have check up after having a baby. New addition- I treated myself to a wonderful self-care routine by going weekly to pregnancy massage delivered skillfully by Charlotte and Caitriona. The massage helps with pregnancy related pain and discomfort as well as much needed relaxation

I can't recommend Bump to Beyond enough. The whole team are fantastic. They have created a clinic space full of compassion as well as being highly knowledgeable. I first visited for a Mummy MOT and I am now halfway through my treatment plan. Charlotte has been fantastic in listening to my concerns and making sure the treatment is right for me. It has made a real difference to my post natal recovery, both physically and psychologically. Charlotte and Deb have also given me hope of returning to my previously enjoyed activities.

I would highly recommend Bump and Beyond after having a slipped disc in 2020, I just couldn't get going again seeing lots of specialists on the way. I was recommended Debs by Bolton University and to be honest they have been amazing. I was diagnosed with a right sided tummy gap and after just 4 month's have managed through the bump and beyond platinum package to completely sort my tummy gap. I am still under Debs care and hope to graduate in the next few weeks, but will be keeping in touch to ensure things stay on track in the future. Thankyou to Debs and the whole team who are an absolute pleasure to work to chat and have a laugh with evrytime I go into clinic x Julie I have seen had breast cancer and been back to Bump to beyond June 2026 for scar therapy and would like to add this. I am a 52-year-old who has recently undergone treatment for breast cancer, including two surgeries within the past year—a lumpectomy with targeted node biopsy in August, followed by an axillary node clearance in September. I’ve been seeing Myer for support with scar management and improving movement in my shoulder and chest. Through massage and tailored daily exercises that she updates each week, the progress has been remarkable. After just three sessions, the appearance of my scar has significantly improved, and I’ve regained so much movement and sensation in the area under my arm. Not only have the physical results been fantastic, but the whole experience at the clinic has been incredibly positive. Myer is knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely caring, and I’ve really appreciated the friendly, relaxed atmosphere during each visit. I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend Myer and her services to anyone recovering from surgery.

Great experience with Mey and Charlotte. They diagnosed a tummy gap I hadn't realised I had and help me close it. I don't have the measurements to hand but after a few weeks of treatment plus exercises I regained my core strength and the gap is now closed. We also worked on the scar tissue and the area was feeling very tight but now it feels a lot better. The scar appearance has also improved. Thank you both!

I’ve just finished almost a year of rehab following a c section for my 2nd baby. It’s been such a great experience, from my initial pelvic floor rehab exercises to c section scar massage with Meyer, it’s been pivotal to my recovery. Special thanks to Meyer who has been amazing and provided so much information about my scar and how to continue supporting it long term! I would highly recommend!! Thank you again
