After going through childbirth, your postnatal recovery should be one of your highest priorities alongside your baby. Our Mummy MOT service is designed to help women recover safely from the physical strain experienced during labour, and our range of postnatal physiotherapy treatments can be tailored into a bespoke postnatal recovery plan for you.
If you are struggling with your postnatal recovery, get in touch today to learn about how our Mummy MOT service can help you.
Unsure about how the Mummy MOT works? View our Frequently asked questions below or contact us on 07802517366.
Your initial Mummy MOT appointment will be an assessment of your current postnatal condition, as well as a discussion of your pregnancy history. The assessment will also involve a specialist women’s health physiotherapist completing visual examinations of certain areas of your body.
As a result, we recommend that you attend the appointment in clothing that is loose so that it can be pulled up to access certain areas of your body. However, if you do not feel comfortable in doing so, a sheet can be provided for your dignity, or you can simply choose not to have a particular area of your body assessed. It is completely your choice.
Once the assessment is completed, the information will be used to create a tailored recovery plan. This may include further postnatal physiotherapy treatments and strengthening exercises, but these will not take place until the second appointment. You will receive plenty of advice and education on the first assessment, leaving you feeling empowered knowing what the next steps are in your road to recovery.
As part of the Mummy MOT service, our specialist women’s health physiotherapists will use your assessment to create a tailored plan for your recovery. After the postnatal check-up, they will be able to identify the main areas of concern and delegate specific treatments to help aid your recovery.
For example, if your pelvic floor is weak (and not yet ready for higher impact activity), our specialist physiotherapists are trained in gynaecology and will use a variety of treatments from supervised pelvic floor exercises, to biofeedback training to magnetic therapy to help target your problem and return you to the exercise you love.
Alternatively, your Mummy MOT assessment may determine that your scar is tight, creating an overhang, causing you to feel stuck or restricted or reducing the movement in to your pelvic floor. As part of the tailored recovery plan, you will be provided with scar therapy and massage and given specific exercises and treatments to complete. This should help you to regain some strength and control in your scar and pelvic floor.
Our Mummy MOT service is suitable from 6 weeks after giving birth. However, if you are having problems in the early post-natal period and wish to be seen sooner than 6 weeks, you may wish to speak with your GP or consultant before booking an appointment with us. Alternatively, please call us to discuss your individual circumstance and our senior specialist physiotherapist will be happy to provide advice.

They have created a clinic space full of compassion as well as being highly knowledgeable. I first visited for a Mummy MOT and I am now halfway through my treatment plan. Charlotte has been fantastic in listening to my concerns and making sure the treatment is right for me. It has made a real difference to my post natal recovery, both physically and psychologically. Charlotte and Deb have also given me hope of returning to my previously enjoyed activities.Posted on Google Julie LomaxTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I would highly recommend Bump and Beyond after having a slipped disc in 2020, I just couldn't get going again seeing lots of specialists on the way. I was recommended Debs by Bolton University and to be honest they have been amazing. I was diagnosed with a right sided tummy gap and after just 4 month's have managed through the bump and beyond platinum package to completely sort my tummy gap. I am still under Debs care and hope to graduate in the next few weeks, but will be keeping in touch to ensure things stay on track in the future. Thankyou to Debs and the whole team who are an absolute pleasure to work to chat and have a laugh with evrytime I go into clinic x Julie I have seen had breast cancer and been back to Bump to beyond June 2026 for scar therapy and would like to add this. I am a 52-year-old who has recently undergone treatment for breast cancer, including two surgeries within the past year—a lumpectomy with targeted node biopsy in August, followed by an axillary node clearance in September. I’ve been seeing Myer for support with scar management and improving movement in my shoulder and chest. Through massage and tailored daily exercises that she updates each week, the progress has been remarkable. After just three sessions, the appearance of my scar has significantly improved, and I’ve regained so much movement and sensation in the area under my arm. Not only have the physical results been fantastic, but the whole experience at the clinic has been incredibly positive. Myer is knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely caring, and I’ve really appreciated the friendly, relaxed atmosphere during each visit. I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend Myer and her services to anyone recovering from surgery.Posted on Google Cintia MaldonadoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great experience with Mey and Charlotte. They diagnosed a tummy gap I hadn't realised I had and help me close it. I don't have the measurements to hand but after a few weeks of treatment plus exercises I regained my core strength and the gap is now closed. We also worked on the scar tissue and the area was feeling very tight but now it feels a lot better. The scar appearance has also improved. Thank you both!Posted on Google Katie BrammerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great help for my diastasis. I look forward to the massages every time. 10/10!Posted on Google Rachael DarleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve just finished almost a year of rehab following a c section for my 2nd baby. It’s been such a great experience, from my initial pelvic floor rehab exercises to c section scar massage with Meyer, it’s been pivotal to my recovery. Special thanks to Meyer who has been amazing and provided so much information about my scar and how to continue supporting it long term! I would highly recommend!!
